With the move away from sales with fast forward does this now mean that their Game Unplugged magazine will no longer support Savage Worlds?
Just curious, as I took out a subscription for the savage content. _________________ I met Joan on Monday,

That is, unfortunately, true as far as I know.
I've heard rumors that GU might soon have new, er. . .policies. Best to wait and get it directly from them. I'm sure if you want a refund there wouldn't be any hassle from them.

Phew!
I was totally going to subscribe to that magazine just for the Savage goods...oh well...maybe a different one down the road??
It would be cool if PEG could have its own, a digest or something, a PDF would be ok, but there is nothing like getting gaming once a month in the mailbox
You would get a subscription from me, even 50 bucks if that is what it would take. |

Hey, thanks 9bitjunkie. I appreciate your good faith.
The Savage Tales on RPGNOW are basically our "magazine."
I think anything else would wind up being collections of rules/monsters/Edges/Hindrances for all genres that would mostly just be a pain to keep up with, don't you? I want to make sure and keep things clean and simple--unlike OGL games where there are 50 books you have to paw through for one simple paragraph of rules.
Whatcha think?

Sounds Cool to me. I've been picking up the savage tales - very good. I agree rules additions would be a pain in the backside. To expand the magazine side of it, what about more general gaming articles being added to the back? A good example is Twilight Time, a mailing list that used pick a general RPG topic and just talk about it (find the archive at www.burningvoid.com). It covered everything from publishing to plot hooks. _________________ The Hangin' Tree

Please feel free to put your collections of rules/Edges/Hinderances/monsters here:
http://rorschach.net/SWFAQ
My site is set up for easy submission and editing, perfect for bits and pieces instead of a full submission that could be a Savage Tale or a submission to savageheroes.com. It is set up to be collaborative allowing everyone to participate in all parts of the site. |

I agree on the rules additions, I was thinking more along the same lines as steel-eye.
Savage Tales works for me though |

Steel-eye -
If you want general gaming articles (well, aimed for the most part at GMs), check out roleplayingtips.com. I've subscribed since the early issues, and have talked with the writer/publisher of the ezine many times. The archives are full of gaming goodness, and I look forward to my new issue every Monday morning. _________________ Darkechilde

It has been my experience over of the years that there are far more people who want the option to subscribe to a magizine than people who will subscribe to a magizine.
With the exception of Savage Tales, there isn't anything that would be in a magizine that couldn't be found for free either here or on a general purpose RPG site such as RPGnet.

I'll second that motion; they're a great resource!

Darkechilde - Thanks for the tip - I'll take a look
As for the point about free magazine articles, that is true to an extent. There is a big difference between professionally written articles and stuff you get on websites. There are certain exeptions (like burning void, but then Heather is a professional writer). What I was suggesting was that Savage Tales could be enhanced by the inclusion of general gaming articles. Wouldn't it be great to pick up the latest Savage Tale with an article on how they built the game world it was set in and a support article on building your own worlds? Not to mention articles covering roleplaying and character creation.
Take a look at a lot of the latest offerings from whitewolf. They tend to be book long discussions on states of spirituality or polotics. Some really great stuff there, but I think the same effect could have been achieved through magazine articles (rather than padding the things into full books!). _________________ The Hangin' Tree
