yes thats right i want to kill off the human race, well in a savage worlds game that is. the idea is to have the games plot open so that humans could lose the war that is going on as the game starts and the three other races fight over whats left. a few humans would survive (about 5% or less!) but in such small numbers that they would make little difference if they ever got organised and tryed to fight back.
would you do it and would you like to play in a game where this happened?
i'd like to see what you think.
thanks. |

I think it depends on the reason for the humans being wiped out. If it's a plausible reason that adds depth to the setting then I am all for it.

| I think Titan A.E. did that theme very well, with humans reduced to small factions displaced from their home. Would the story be about human survivors trying to get by in a world of enemies, or about the other races? (My vote is with the former). |

Man... Titan A.E.... so many good ideas... so little good cohesion. Dont' get me wrong, I liked the movie okay. Had a lot of cool ideas and sequences. I just don't think it gelled into a good movie.
Anyway, yeah... kill 'em all, let the GM sort them out. _________________ http://savagestuffing.blogspot.com/

| It would be nice to see a fictional world where dwarves aren't the doomed race in decline. |

well, in this game i'm running out of the six races the humans are the ones that are doomed to die out. the other five will be left to fight it out over what is left of a shattered earth. _________________ join the Steam Driven Publishing group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/263642827062213/ for news about our products and up coming projects |

FOr a fantasy, or a sci fk humans might have created the other races, elves for farming, dwarves to mine, .5folk as servants, etc. or the equiv in a SF setting.
then something happens to the humans, maybe ther slave races revolted? |

It sounds a bit like the Low Life Prequel campaign I posted in the 101 Worlds thread. _________________ "Any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science!" - Agatha Heterodyne

take a look at Earthdawn. from what i remember, not only are dwarves not declining, they're the most important race (politically and economically) in the campaign setting.
as to the original question, it could be an intriguing setting, but it would depend on how you handle the nonhuman races. if they're too much like humanity (the old "people in rubber suits/forehead prosthetics/pointed ears" aliens syndrome), it loses meaning that you've gotten rid of baseline humans (because you really haven't). on the other hand, if they're too different, you might risk making the setting too incomprehensible to your players.
(one idea i've been bouncing around for the past few months is a sci fi setting set far in the future. humanity as we know it has long since gone extinct, Earth has been forgotten, but our descendants on countless other worlds still exist. they've all adapted to their local conditions, and thus are all different -- some subtly so, some radically. i was planning on having at least one of these "daughter races" be quite close to modern humans, just to give people a "default" race if they didn't want to play anything too exotic.) |
