Hello Savages,
At Serf Productions, we've been hard at work getting Savage Outfitter on desktops and mobile phones (Android, iOS, etc) backed by our Cloud Services. Our website has been updated with a new video highlighting the features. Check it out at: www.savageoutfitter.com. Also, we're going to have some exciting news coming up for Savage Outfitter in just one week! So stay tuned.
For those that don't already know about Savage Outfitter, here's a quote from an earlier post:
| Quote: | | Savage Outfitter is a "Digital Tools Platform" that will provide a variety of solutions for Savage Worlds players everywhere, including character generation tools and asset management (for published/custom hindrances, edges, gear, etc...). Savage Outfitter runs in the Cloud giving you access to your data in your browser, mobile phone, or tablet. And since the software itself is FREE, there's no reason not to check it out. |
This week is the last opportunity for the Early Adopters' Special: Sign up for major product updates and you get 20% off the Digital Content Pack of your choice!

| Any chance you will support tablets, like my Kindle Fire? |

Tablets will absolutely be supported. At Serf Productions, we ourselves have access to several tablets, including the Nook Color, an iPad, and the Asus eee Transformer. And we want our software to work on all them, including the Kindle Fire. _________________ David Patrick

Hmmm...it was a nice video, but it didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. Would've loved to see some video of the program itself. _________________ Repairer of Reputations |

Sorry to disappoint. A video with an app demonstration will be coming very soon.
A lot of the work that we've done with the product so far has been on the back-end; which is great for laying the foundation we need, but not so great for videos. There's a lot of infrastructure that goes into a project like this. We're trying to support multiple platforms and keep the data up-to-date for every client.
But rest assured, we're working feverishly on the client-side as we "speak". _________________ David Patrick

Hi Karick,
I'm not sure I know what you mean. Our Kickstarter Project was a success, the physical rewards have been delivered, and our first release of Savage Outfitter is live and out there, ready for anyone to use.
A survey has gone out to Kickstarter backers. I know we've been a little lax on Kickstarter updates lately. My whole family came down with the flu not too long ago and we've only just got to the point where everyone's recovered (though one of us has completely lost her voice for several days now - I think I should call her up to see how she's doing ).
But we're continuing to make progress on the app, trying our best to supply more high quality features as quickly as we can. These sorts of projects take a lot of time. Especially since we're all doing this on a volunteer basis and life seems to consistently get in the way.
So please bear with us as we continue to make progress. _________________ David Patrick

Well, since Savage Outfitter has been live, we've been handling a variety of things: like login issues, browser issues, 1 bug report, security questions, and other general questions. At Serf Productions, we've also discovered a few bugs that users hadn't noticed. So since we've launched, we've actually put out several updates. Considering that no one seems to have noticed, I think that we've successfully proven our ability to fix issues quickly and without disrupting service. Which I think is a very good thing.
We've also put out the Kickstarter-backer survey asking folks what they want us to work on next. I have the results of the survey and will be posting them later today. Meanwhile, we've determined that we should be able to put out more modules over time without disrupting our development efforts. Module progress won't be as fast as it would have been if people had voted for it... But we will be making progress there.
On the development front, we've been refactoring a lot of our codebase getting ready for both Multiple Clients, and Character Creation/Advancement/Tracking, as well as a variety of other features we've got coming down the pipe.
So, we are working on this product just about every single day. Some days you just can't help but lie in bed from the Flu... But that's just how life is. We're in this for the long haul. So please be patient and know that we are working on this as fast as we can to provide a High Quality Product for Savage Worlds fans. _________________ David Patrick

Hi David,
(Apologies to all for the Necrothread)
I'm so sorry I missed the Kickstarter for this, so far what I see works pretty well. I just saw your site linked off the main Pinnacle page, and I'm pleasantly surprised how well it works for Beta (Twitter Bootstrap is awesome for creating an online interface, that's what I use!)
I did have a small problem creating a new module the first time I tried (I believe I left the summary and description blank as I planned to come back later), but the second time I created it, it worked.
I'm currently testing it out and it's going pretty smoothly. I understand the complexity of the Character creator as my little JavaScript creator that I started earlier this week (not publicly available) isn't past basic Skills, Races or Attributes due to time constraints as well.
Is there any chance of having a Mundane Equipment list for specialized equipment in a module? All I'm seeing is weapons and armor...it'd be nice to put ammunition weights and costs there -- or maybe as a Weapon option.
Thanks!

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for trying out the product.
Yeah, right now the Summary field is required for a lot of the documents. If that doesn't make sense to a lot of people, then we can just drop the requirement.
We are working as fast as we can on our next release of Savage Outfitter. That release will include more "Asset Types" like Ammo and Items/Services (a lot of books mix the two).
We're also looking at ways to make the asset types as flexible as possible. Maybe even allowing Module developers to create their own.
But yeah, Twitter Bootstrap is a great platform for getting an app looking decent as soon as possible. At some point, we may even get the time to tweak it to help our app look more unique. _________________ David Patrick

In the top-right corner of http://www.savageoutfitter.com there is a sign-in button. Clicking it will present you with 6 authentication choices.
Use MyOpenID if you don't have, or don't want to share your use of, any of the other choices. Just remember to associate an e-mail with MyOpenID before attempting to log in with it.
The app works best with Desktop browsers, particularly FireFox and most any Web Kit browser (like Chrome, Safari, and Opera).
Also, please remember that it is a limited-functionality (and content) Beta. We're working every day to improve the App for regular gaming use both on and off the table.
Thanks. _________________ David Patrick
