I love WOTD but I'm not sure I want to run it for 52 weeks. So I'm thinking of running a Resident Evil game set during the events of RE2 in Racoon City. I plan to use the WOTD setting rules and zombies and use the SWD/Horror Companion to create the big nasty monsters. Should I have them start as regular people or stay closer to the game with characters that are police, special ops and so forth? _________________ Unstoppable Force Game Designs
A common theme in the RE games is ammo/weapon shortage. So you could:
- start the characters with some experience/advances
- add a rule that they cannot buy any firearms with their starting money (many cities have firearm ownership restrictions), or they can only buy certain types of firearms (only shotguns or hunting rifles, for example)
- put together some profession edges that give a few skill/ability perks and also allow them to buy a sidearm (for cops), assault rifle (for operatives/STARS), etc.
- You could even have some professions (Umbrella Operatives) to start with a dose G-virus antidote that negates infection from one bite.
