| I want to do an OFRPG conversion. But many of the races have a crap load of abilities. Any suggestions on how to make them more balanced or ideas of converting them to SW? |

First, convert the flavor, not the game mechanics. This usually balances out races effortlessly. But sometimes the flavor text is full of power with no downsides (Tolkien Elves are a great example), and you'll have to work harder on those races - look for flavor that fits, and separate out the unique and powerful individuals from the general race (Galadriel is not every elf; while Legolas and Gimli were equally deadly, and both were less awesome than Aragorn, who was significantly more impressive than the other Grey Men).
Second, use the Race Creation guidelines from Savage Worlds Deluxe, the Fantasy Companion, Slipstream, the Sci-fi toolkits, or any other favored source with such a system.
Example: Bachoya - Size +1, +2 to resist all environments, Hedonistic (as the Quirk hindrance), Jokers (as the Outsider hindrance). So, they are big, tough, with a ribald and fun-loving personality that can drive some mad and that others share and love. And are a +2 race (just like humans). You could do it differently, but that's the kind of minimalist design I'd use.
Best of luck! _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

Any Ideas? Would they be size 1 or size 0? |
Minimum Size +1, possibly size +2.
Is this for a PC or for NPCs? The two can be very different, both for the ease of GMing and because some races just don't balance with other races.
As a rule of thumb*, remembering that these are all approximations:
Size Body Mass (pounds)
-2 less than 40
-1 50 to 100
+0 100 to 200
+1 200 to 400
+2 400 to 800
+3 900 to 2,000
+4 2,000 to 4,000
+5 4,000 to 6,000
+6 6,000 to 10,000
+7 10,000+
After that, creatures are in the double- or triple-digit Tons; the example blue whale averages 200 tons, is the largest known animal to have ever existed, and is a Size +9.
*There are exceptions, due to height or unusual biology or the needs of game balance, but this is a fairly consistent and useful guideline. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

| Make them all player races. But don't worry about 'Balancing them'. Just put what you feel they should have in SW. In OFRPG they give human players many QUIRK POINTS Wich amount to free edges. So Starting human players will have Advances to make up their lack of cool abilities. |

Additional Limbs. If, like chimpanzees, they're only using four limbs then give them a discount (+2 per limb, -1 because those limbs are the legs & feet, total +3). _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

I'd give them both Size +1 and the Brawny Edge as a racial Edge. That's a cumulative +2 to Toughness. Ergo... big and tough. _________________ 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.

Ah, the space monkey-bats.
Small (Size -1)
Flight (at Pace)
Prehensile feet (Wall Walker) - this isn't what the other system does for prehensile feet, but this is how the game wants you to use it.
Prehensile tail (Extra Limb)
"I'm Tougher than I Look" (Overconfident)
Low-Light Vision (ignore penalties for Dim and Dark lighting) _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

I am thinking size +2, Maybe some armor,+2 vs Heat and toxins,-2 vs cold. I don't know how to handle the sonic yell attack so I am dropping it. You guys got any thoughts? |

| I sent an Email to the games owner asking for permission to convert OFRPG to Savage Worlds. Fingers crossed. |

The Stun power, with a deafening trapping (hearing protection helps, as does the hard of hearing hindrances). Give them some PP (~5) and call it a +2 ability. |
