This is a very rough draft of a new arcane background I'm working on.
Any input would be appreciated and I'll post more as I right it up. The powers will all be chip powers (that is spend a chip to do something).
Arcane Background: Watch Men 3 pts
When Judgment Day came it not only shook the world but it shook time itself, you see there where certain individuals that where untouched in the middle of the chaos.
They had each acquired or purchased old pocket watches; you know the kind with the actual hands that you had to rewind to get to work. When the bombs hit they where initially frozen in place as they watched all around them being vaporized and the rest turn into horrid abominations, the ones that did not go mad fled the destruction, each noticed that their old watches had kept perfect time while most others had stopped dead at that dreadful moment (of course this would be noted much later). They also found that they could manipulate time, but never going back before Judgment Day.
These men and women are called Watch Men and theirs is the power to change time.
Each watch men gets to draw an extra number of Fate Chips equal to their Smarts Coordination Trait, these chips can only be used to power their Time Powers and if not used by the end of the session, go back into the pot. Also, regular Fate Chips can be used to work their Time Powers. _________________ Remember: If you build a fire for a man he will be warm for a night, but if you set that man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life. |

Time Travel
This power doesn’t actually let you go back and forth in time but slip into the time stream and travel from points A to B in an instant. While using this power you cannot be affected or affect any object or person while in the time stream, so you couldn’t open doors or suffer the effects of a maelstrom, also, everything appears as a blur to you and others cannot see you while in the stream. You may ride some conveyance such as a bike or car and take a few willing people with you (but you all must be able to travel the same speed). Distance covered will be based on your travel method.
Chip
White: The time stream is opened for 1 hour of travel.
Red: Time stream is opened for 8 hours of travel.
Blue: The time stream is opened for 24 hours of travel.
Legend: You can travel for 30 days worth of time.
Tempus Fugit
You cause time to speed up for yourself and slow down for others giving you advantages during combat. This power must be used at the beginning of the combat round after initiative is rolled but before the cards are dealt (so let your dealer know).
There is a downside to this power in that if you draw a Black Joker (while using this power) you are frozen in time and get no cards for this round. Tempus Fugit allows you to have up to 5 cards plus whatever the chip gives you.
Chip
White: 1 extra card.
Red: 2 extra cards
Blue: 3 extra cards
Legend: 5 extra cards _________________ Remember: If you build a fire for a man he will be warm for a night, but if you set that man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life. |

That's wild I wasn't familiar with any of those, of course I've seen the clock stopping theme in other other stories. _________________ Remember: If you build a fire for a man he will be warm for a night, but if you set that man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life. |

Of course the best use of the clock stopping power was in the Saturday Night Live skit "The Interesting Four". A watch repair man was caught in a freak Nuclear accident and was fused with a watch. And now as Seiko the Time Man he can move time back 3 seconds _________________ http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h51/Vondan/ |
