I tend to be a bit maverick about fanstuff, but I try to roll back on that because I believe very firmly in the right of a person to control his own creation. So, here's a question - if we have some fan stuff (new Archetypes, NPCs, scenarios, Edges, Hindrances, or what-not), where do you prefer that we put them? I can put them here, elsewhere, or on my own (little-used) website.
(And, while technically I'm referring to FSG, PEG might also want to weigh in on this.) _________________ Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought- a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities!

I can't give an official answer, but I think here or anywhere is cool. Just be sure to note it's fan material and preferably point people to streetsofbedlam.com, and I think you'd be golden. _________________ Clockworks - a Savage Worlds powered Steampunk webcomic. Updates hopefully twice a week. |

Provided folks aren't reproducing material from the book, I have no issue with fan material at all. I love seeing what gamers come up with. Given the focus of these forums, I'd say this is a great spot to share (even if you do put it elsewhere). And, yes, a link back to StreetsOfBedlam.com is greatly appreciated.
The sticky issue, as there always is one, is that I have a lot of stuff planned and/or in the works for Streets of Bedlam and some of it may be uncomfortably close to fan material put online (Archetype with the same name, for instance, or Edges + Hindrances that do the same thing, and other stuff like that). All I have is my assurance that I would never copy anyone else's work and I especially wouldn't rip off a fan. A coincidence would be a coincidence, nothing more.
If ever I did see something someone else created that absolutely had to be in an official SoB release, I'd contact the creator and try to work something out. If we could, I'd use the material with proper credit to the original author. If we couldn't, I'd find something else. I realize a lot of you probably don't know me from Adam but I respect my games' audience very much and always try to do right by them. All I ask is the same in return (and this crowd here seems pretty great so far). _________________ Jason L Blair

While this is useful information, I think this misses the underlying question of where you prefer to see it. I think this somewhat rules out me putting it on my own website (which gets little throughput anyway, and is more of a clearinghouse for "crud I need a place for"), but where would you like to see it get put?
In particular, since you'd like to be able to see what's out there to know where you're cutting close to fan material, is where you look most to be able to find the stuff fans have made?
Also, as a more general statement about the topic you've provided, I'd like to say that in general I assume that unless the work of the original creator simply overlaps or nearly overlaps the work of a fan, the original creator has provenance. If nothing else, a lot of fan work that derives directly from the main work is a natural product of it. _________________ Nothing exists but you. I don't have a preference as to where the material is posted. As I said in my post though, this forum is a good spot to do so even if you also post it elsewhere. _________________ Jason L Blair

Thanks for answering the question. (Twice.) _________________ Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought- a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities!
