My group are pretty mercenary when it comes to going on adventures so I am trying to find a good suggestion for varios pay per mission.

I base the currency model on the generic Deluxe money. I don't bother to adjust prices for my various homebrew settings, just the currency's name.

So how much per player should they be offered for jobs.

I am rating the various jobs by the apparent danger at the time of contract.

Relatively Safe
Average
Dangerous
Very Dangerous
So Dangerous We'll Pay Lots!

I would have to say, I'm not sure. But I'll see if I can't toss out some ideas for your own reasoning.

Someone takes a job as a mercenary because they can make ALOT of money, usually in a relatively short amount of time. According to SWD, a rich person gets 150k a year, and a very rich person makes 500k a year. I would say that your merc's might look to make that same amount per year if they did nothing but Dangerous jobs. Your last job category might actually be 150k in and of itself.

However, I would also like to point out that Merc's should ALSO go through their money very very quickly. Think of them like sailors in the golden age of sailing. They made decent money, but could blow through a years wages in just one small port call. They never managed to keep it in their pockets, but blew it on girls, booze, food, lodging, etc.

I don't think that individual mercenaries are wealthy at all. The idea that they are all the equivalent of being Rich seems sort of fantastic... who could afford to pay them that kind of money. A mercenary company of a 100 men would bankrupt a kingdom rather quickly at that rate.

I honestly think that mercs would probably make a couple of silvers a day, with the excitement of the lifestyle and the opportunity for loot being the primary motivation for the choice of lifestyle.

Maybe if the PC's are known bad-asses they could command a higher wage.

Mercenary soldiers, like any other profession, has various pay levels.

Some are paid a wage that is around subsistence levels. They can stay alive on their pay, but luxuries (drugs, whores, good food, etc.) often leave them needing to find ... additional sources of income. These guys tend to end up in garrison / pacification jobs, and mostly work in a single country or region.
Many are paid a wage that is a decent working wage. Not great, but not so low that they have to steal. This would be the majority of the international profession.
The upper tiers are the kinds of corporate operators that made up Blackwater. Most of these guys are highly-trained military veterans, or have a lot of combat experience. They're very good, very expensive, and have salaries around the six figure mark - like any other corporate officer. These are the guys at the top of the profession, the ones that readers of Soldier of Fortune magazine wish to become.

The final levels are the absolute elites. Individuals with towering reputations and very high fees. The equivalent of veteran Player Characters, these folks are individuals with impressive resumes and an ability to get a job done if it can be done by a couple of individuals. Some work for corporations, but many are independent (if they liked being part of an organization then they'd be working for government agencies of one kind or another).

Vinzent - you've got five levels of pay scale. I'd probably go with a base fee of $500 per agent, with the following modifiers. Relatively Safe - x1; Average - x1.5; Dangerous - x2; Very Dangerous - x10; Getting Shot Money - x30. These prices reflect the "this is dangerous enough that we don't want to do it ourselves" nature of the missions.
So, $500; $750; $1,000; $5,000; $15,000. Everything over that means that your employer is planning to double-cross you. Twisted Evil
