I'm thinking the ability to call in half a dozen SWAT type NPC extras might come in handy while raiding an alien base or something. Should this be a perk, like calling in an airstrike? Please forgive me if something like this exists already and I missed it my shoddy research...

Definitely a perk.

You could use the Connections Edge. SWD p. 41 or SWEE p. 32.

I won't reproduce the whole thing here, but it's possible to get serious help from your Connection, which manifests itself as either one specialist or five grunts.

That works too, Sablemage. The cool thing about AoO is that you can use Resource Points to buy temporary edges and powers before a mission. You pointing that out, sets an edge precedent for me. (Not that I need a precedent as GM, but I like precedents).
