In Solomon Kane, magic-users typically use multiple rounds to prepare their spells and may not move in that time (SK p.97f, Using Powers).

Now, how does the spell range work? Must the target be in range
a.) at the beginning of the spell prep (when the caster announces that and which power he uses),
b.) at the end of the spell prep (when the caster actually uses the spell),
c.) both when the spell prep begins and ends, or
d.) the entire time of the spell prep?

In case C or D, what does that mean for spells with a range of touch? Would the caster need multiple successful touch attacks to use his spell?

B would be correct. The caster is just preparing on the earlier rounds, the range only matters on the round the spell is actually cast.
