Well, I hear tell that there's a killer runnin' around named Stone if that's what you mean...

| Game could use more settings in that era. But I wish it had more details, had a PDF only price point(without the novel combo) and they need to put in stretch goals. |

Not necessarily. We still don't know what the Stone and a Hard Place plot point will resolve. There are lots of ways for things to happen one way or another. I'm wondering if this bleeds into Hell on Earth or not. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

| It could be a cult founded by Stone, or named for/by him |

I can think of at least four things that it could be. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

If Stone is still around in 1938 that could explain why his daughter Jane Harrow is at Arcane High in 1955
And what is the projected release date on this? _________________ http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h51/Vondan/ |

Well, I don't know if it's the same Stone or not, but it's right there on Pinacle's front page.

I have nothing to say in the way of answers, but I appreciate speculation on this front. _________________ Matthew Cutter

I speculate that Stone + Bourbon Street + Cheap Ghost rock Whiskey + Voodoo = Harrowed Teen aged girl at Arcadia High School in 1955 who cant get a date for the prom because she smells of death

I just wanted to say that I love the hard boiled P.I. 30's and 40's style genre, but I've never seen an RPG that really caught my attention and made me want to run it. This one fits the bill. Really looking forward to this. _________________ "It is requisite for the relaxation of the mind that we make use, from time to time, of playful deeds and jokes."--Saint Thomas Aquinas

One thing I am wondering about is what sort of attention is going to be given to mystery-solving. The setting doesn't have to be exclusively about detectives, but I am assuming that it wouldn't be called "Noir" if it wasn't in there.
Mystery solving is a common occurance in RPG plots, but not all GMs are good at it, and it's not usually built into the game's rules. SW doesn't have to write a chapter full of rules about finding clues and drawing conclusions from them, but will there be at least some guidelines for GMs to write good mysteries, and for players to use their character's abilities within the rules to unravel them? |

I too am a bit worried about mysteries in the games. Maybe there will be some mechanic like the Gumshoe system where you automatically get clues or you spend a Fate Chip to get a clue if you can't find it. Thus the trouble is interpreting the clue and the scenario doesn't come to a screeching halt if you don't find that vital clue.
I bet there are going to be modified Social Conflict rules to better handle interrogations. The ones as written don't really work well for the one-sided "tell me what you know" situations in the hardboiled genre, since they don't even allow you to Intimidate the other person. _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. I don't have a lot of personal experience with this sort of thing, but I've read a bit about it. I highly recommend "The Alexandrian" blog, where he talks quite a bit about handling clues in RPG scenarios. Specifically, he says that you should always have 3 chances for every imporant clue to end up with the players. IIR, the first is the best/most interesting way, in which you hope/expect them to go. The second is a contingency for if they go in a differnent direction, and should be a bit broader in how it can be found, and the third is in case they completely miss the first two and you need to drop it on their lap.
He also talks about how to go from one "node" to another, and in what order, and the merits and flaws of how to plan them. I wouldn't want to summarize that. Go read it:
http://thealexandrian.net/
I agree with you about interrogations. I think there should be system of give & take where the players decide what methods to use, what incentives to offer the subject, and consequences involved. It should be FFF and probably no more lengthy than the social conflict rules, but having 2 or 3 options and 2 or 3 modifiers with 2 or 3 possible results from which the GM can expand upon would be a good thing to have. |

Pinnacles products in general, and their Deadlands stuff in particular, have usually had a mystery or three going on.
They give some advice on handling it, but given the sandbox nature of mystery investigation, they can't guide the Marshal through the whole adventure. I suspect that they'll have very little to add in a "how to run a mystery" section (if they include such a thing).
What we'll probably see is a lot of example challenges in adventures. Social Conflicts, variants of Mass Battles to scour a scene for clues, Dramatic Task variants to interview witnesses, and so forth. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

Daphney will be dressed as a flapper
Fred will look like a jock in a bear skin coat and a flat straw hat
Shaggy will look like the guys in refer madness
Velma will have a orange gingham dress and glasses _________________ http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h51/Vondan/ |

Stretch goals have been announced.
Neat to know that the audiodrama and soundtrack will be available (along with everything except the PI Badge) for separate purchase once the Kickstarter is over. |

Not a lot for those of us on a budget though. I guess we'll be able to buy dice, etc. seperatly after the game is relesed.(?) _________________ Todd |
