|

Hey guys,
I have, after honestly months of subtle nudges, managed to set my posse up to start The Flood plot point. They may or may not finish it, but I wanted them to have the experience of being there when Hellstromme wins the GRW and bombs Ghost Town. At the end of my last session, they were partway through Plot Point 1 - they had just discovered the hole and train tracks.
What worries me is that within the past few session they have grown to despise Hellstromme, and they are likely to jump on this opportunity to do some damage to him or his operation. I can easily imagine the situation rapidly devolving into this:
And they are damn good at it. Four veteran characters and one almost-legendary. And the legendary guy has a habit of going in gun's blasting. If it comes to a firefight I can certainly overpower them eventually, but they'd likely do some serious damage first.
Any ideas on how to get through this sequence without them throwing a huge monkey wrench into the works? |

Add more automatons (3 per hero ought to be enough to give pause), and increase the number of Harrowed bodyguards (being Harrowed, they're automatically wild cards, and should have Quick Draw and Improved Hip Shooting, being veteran gunslingers). Make sure the posse sees all this firepower, and that it's all spread out (giving them pause).
Then have Darius be very polite and friendly. Followed by Lacy pulling them aside to say "No matter how you feel, don't do anything until we get out of this tunnel".
Hopefully they'll get the hint. If not, have miners throw dynamite at them until the tunnel collapses on their corpses. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

I second ValhallaGH's advice. They should realize that it's suicidal to try anything while they're in the tunnel. And if they attempt to kill him when they exit…Hellstromme is no doubt going to make their life a living hell afterwards! _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. Any Setting. No Extra Cost.

Hellstromme has overwhelming forces. The kind of forces that he would need to fight the last battle of the Great Rail Wars. In your descriptions, that needs to be abundantly clear. If the posse decides to do something insanely, suicidally stupid, then the players should get a warning that their course of action is insanely, suicidally stupid. If they still want to do it, kill them with the automatons, henchmen, and the plethora of fully automatic weapons while they have nowhere to hide or take cover. And don't apologize.
EDIT: If they don't know that sometimes the characters need to talk it out, then that might be a good place for them to learn. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM
