Are there any rules in SWD about a small character (let's say size -1) wielding weapons intended for "normal sized" characters?

Thanks.

Not really, other than the fact that smaller characters might have a lower Strength score and thus fall under the Minimum Strength rule.

A GM is always free to house rule something like that, of course. Smile

Being small is a Hindrance in Savage Worlds, because it entails a -1 penalty to Toughness, but it doesn't come with any other inherent bonuses or penalties like it does int d20.

Unless being slow because you have shorter legs is a racial Hindrance, you're not any slower than a full-sized character just for having the Small Hindrance, but you also don't get a bonus to Stealth.

I ran a GURPS Space game where one player wanted a squirrel-sized PC to carry a projectile weapon that could damage "big people." I let Frank build his PC a suit of power armor, which came out to mass about 40 pounds (including the mass of the PC). It mounted a gyrojet pistol on a retractible mount, as if it were a vehicle weapon. (I wouldn't let him mount anything which would have had significant recoil).

Somehow, Frank missed that - even in this armor - his PC only weighed about as much as a small box of copier paper . . .

In the first session featuring the suit, Frank picked a fight with several slightly-drunk asteroid miners. The other players tried to dissuade him and he blew them off, so when he (literally) got in over his head, they just sat there and laughed (both in game and in reality).

I still remember the look on his face when - his PC pinned to the bar by a miner and yet still trying to fight (because he was clad in his "invulnerable" power armor) - Frank heard me call out in the miner's slurred tones:

"'ey, Fred! Ya gotcha tool belt on ya? [Burp!]"
