Howdy
I've seen quite a few reviews and chats about Triple Ace's Necropolis saying that its quite "skirmish game" rather than "roleplay" (much like Tour of Darkness one imagines).
Has anyone got any experience of taking a more roleplaying angle with it - ot any notes or ideas?
Not started reading the book myself yet (its on its way from a friend), but thought I'd shout out and see what the gang thought.
Cheers

There are many possibilities for roleplaying, though. Most knights come from different Sacre Ordines, and have their own agendas, that are often contrary to each other, and eventually even the mission at hand. You can play mercenaries, and corporate troops, that have their own agendas, and ways of backstabbing play.
Best possiblities are, when the different ideologies collide... _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who know binary and those who don't. |

As Enno says, most of the roleplaying will be intraparty. Rephaim don't generally have much to say to humans. That said, a few of the published adventures are less combat and more talking/investigative in nature (at least in part).
If you're after investigative style missions, which generally have more of a talky element, try this: 48 free inquisitorial style missions. _________________ Wiggy

I'll chime in here and say the published adventures I edited for TAG were not only RP heavier, but also very well written. Made me want to play Necropolis. _________________ Ron Blessing

The core book is pretty much skirmishes. You'll need to expand beyond that if you want any good RP scenarios.
That being said:
Wiggy, is there any chance we'll see a "Showdown" version of Necropolis? _________________ Aperture Science:

There's always a chance. First we need to iron out the kinks and see what should be included. For instance, a single main battle tank is something like 8,000 points. For that, the Rephaim could field literally dozens of infantry figures with rocket launchers (and hundreds without). _________________ Wiggy

Sounds like you need "Resource Points" not just generic build points.
