|
|
James Raggi's first foray into game design was his 'Random Esoteric Creature Generator,' which he ported over to his 'Lamentations of the Flame Princess' RPG. He was attempting to emulate non-Tolkien fantasy, where your opponents are either other people, or strange, one-of-a-kind monsters. The mechanics involve rolling on a number of tables.
Given that SAVAGE WORLDS creatures are built similarly to other characters (at least in terms of stats), have basic types, and a fixed list of monsterous powers, has anyone developed a random esoteric creature generator for it? |

Realms of Cthulhu has a series of tables to help you generate all-new horrors from beyond space and time. _________________ 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here.'

Agents of Oblivion has a very similar generator to Realms of Cthulhu. The Creature Crafter is pretty good as well.
This is the sort of thing that would make a cool automated tool - click a button and generate a bunch of unique monsters with detailed abilities and enough descriptive flavour to get the creative juices flowing. |

Yep, its called the Xenomorph Generator and its one of the best of its kind I've seen. The creatures it creates are more of the Alien variety. |
