Hiya,
Yeah. We're going Kickstarter for our hardcover (core) rulebooks for that reason. It helps us get past the pain point (i.e. substantial cost of a print run), plus it means we can do Limited Edition copies and know that we can get the Standard Edition books out in a timely manner afterwards. It also helps ensure we can get new artwork and gives some nice unique rewards to fans who chip in (other than access to Limited Edition books, which will probably ONLY be available as part of the Kickstarters).
We'll be kicking-off Kickstarters around the timeframe where we are in final editing and layout, meaning once the Kickstarter is complete (and hopefully successful), there won't be much of a lag before we move to production. Of course, if the Kickstarter isn't successful, then there will be a lag before hitting print, so start saving now.
As a side note, I'll be at Con on the Cob 2011 (I think we arrive Friday evening, leave on Sunday afternoon) so if anyone's going, feel free to make yourself known and pester me with questions. I'll do my best to answer them.
Kind regards,
James Sutton

Do you crazy RedBrick guys reckon there'll be the possibility of something like Shards for Savage ED? Or One Sheets like in Savage?
Enquiring minds want to know! _________________ http://basstoneslap.tv |

Sounds good. We're overhauling our Shards program at the moment, but I'll crosspost to the PEG forums when we're ready to consider Savage Worlds Shard submissions.
Explanation: Shards, by the way, for those that aren't familiar with them, are short adventures for our game systems (primarily Earthdawn and Fading Suns, but extending to our other games in time). Other than that obvious immediate use for GMs, we use Shards as a means of introducing new writers into the game publishing arena, and also for spotting talent for larger works.
Kind regards,
James Sutton

Also, as a fan, I humbly request that yiu please consider a Savaged Version of Equinox when it comes out. The stting seems so sexy for Savage Worlds. Realistically, I'll probably buy it anyway, just because I like the idea and setting so much, but if you could see your way to making a Savage version, I would be stupidly greatful...

Yes, I'd be very interested in Savage Earthdawn and Savage Fading Sun!!
Ran into you guys and talked briefly at Con on the Cob ... at the party I believe, so things are a little fuzzy. I'm sure it had to do with the volume of the noise. _________________ My delusions of grandeur are way bigger than yours! |

A Savage Worlds version of Equinox won't be happening.

Mike! Yes, I remember you. It was great to meet you. The noise was indeed loud... That explains the fuzziness. Ahem. _________________ FASA GAMES, INC. -- West Chester, OH, USA

This is excellent news! I helped D. Connell do some editing for you... gosh... last year? I didn't feel real confident with the Victory Point System though.
Savage Worlds though, now that I feel like I know pretty darn well. Very interested in the potential for... well, any of your settings... Savaged.
Looking forward to those Kickstarters! |

Just appointed a Line Developer and Dev Team. If the Passions are willing, we should see the Player's Guide next in early 2012, with the Game Master's Guide following suit.
Keep an eye out for the Kickstarter announcements, which will herald us getting close to completion (and allow access to the Limited Edition core rulebooks -- likely the only way to get those). I'll crosspost on this Forum as we closer to setting a definitive release date.
Kind regards, James |

Ha, great minds and all
I'm going to be running a campaign over the course of next year at my local games club. I've narrowed the choice down to a few options, 2 of which are Earthdawn and Savage Worlds. I realise the Savage ED book won't be out in time for the start but if the possibility of an early conversion exists.... |

Personally, I love ED, but even with the current rights holders doing an official conversion, I'm very, very, leary about it being translated to SW. Even as I'm excited to see how they do it.
ED is a game where the setting and the system are very intimately related. (Not necessarily the step system itself, but the "classes", the way magic works, etc.)
I'm very curious to see how they convert it to SW, and if that conversion successfully manages to keep both the feel of savage worlds, and keep Earthdawn feeling like Earthdawn. |

I've recently been thinking of buying Mongoose's Call to arms Noble Armada minis and rules and realised the Fading Suns settings was very close to one I was homebrewing - looks like you're about to do all the work for me |

$13 for the PDF? That's an impulse buy. I love it when PDFs are priced so reasonably.
Looking forward to reading it when it comes out. |

Fading Suns is a while away, sorry.
With Fading Suns Third Edition imminent, focus is on getting that out of the starting gate before we tackle other game systems.
