Hey everyone,
My SK players are setting sail again next game session. They've wisely decided to skip traveling overland through openly hostile territory and instead charter a ship to take them as close to their ultimate destination as possible (Visakhapatnam, on the eastern coast of the Sultanate of Golconda). Before they do that, I'd really like to get some random encounters planned out. Unfortunately, I'm terrible with these sorts of things. So I'd like to enlist the aid of my fellow savages. This should be timely enough with the new 50 Fathoms book making its way state side.
Anyhow, here is what I have so far:
♣ Obstacle
Jack...Becalmed
Queen
King...Storm
Ace
♥ NPC
Jack...Trade
Queen
King
Ace
♦ Fortune
Jack...Fair Winds
Queen
King
Ace
♠ Enemies
Jack...Pirates
Queen...Military
King
Ace...Monster
d10 Vessel Nationality
1-3 Arabian
4-6 European (d10: 1-5 Portuguese, 6-8 Dutch, 9 French, 10 English)
7-8 Hindu
9-10 Foreign
Thanks,

King............A small island, allowing you to restock fresh victuals. |

No chance of encountering the Spanish? How odd. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

The Spanish didn't have much of a presence in 17th century Hindoostan. It was mainly the Portuguese and the Dutch, with the British and French waiting in the wings. That's not to say that Spain didn't have ships in the area, but not in any great numbers that I've been able to find.

Ships that had unfortunate encounters and are now available for perfectly legal salvage.
Among other things, this can reinforce the dangers of the sea. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

Is there a general random encounters table floating around the interwebs anyplace? Or a set of them? This is really handy. _________________ "They were a mile away."

I wish I knew. I'd love to see more folks play around with the new encounters system from SWD.
For that matter, I'd love to see more random encounter tables for historical rpgs (Flashing Blades has some very good examples I've incorporated into my library SW All for One game).

Abulafia the Random Tables Wiki allows you to create a wiki page that refreshes with random elements. It is a very elegant solution. _________________ Biting! It's like kissing but there's a winner!

Actually, I incorporate the random ecnounters fron SWD in my games random generators between encounters, to give my characters stuff to do when they go off the rails... _________________ "Anything smaller is just fiddly, and fiddly is not one of SvgW's three Fs..." |
