Lurked/lurking on house rules and conversions forum. Seems space/alien invasion/video game conversions are big as choices for SW GMs.
What would you like to see? Feel free to post on the Poll and elaborate in this thread. _________________ http://www.armsonline.org/

Well actually there all already there. Coverage is good. My main limitation with SW is not that I am missing a setting, it is more that there is no way in hell that I can find enough time and players to try them all out. I want to play a hard-sf game and run an Agents of Oblivion game, I need a reason to buy the new revised 50F and I have enough Sundered Skies material to keep me busy for a while, plus my players would like me to bring back my old homebrew....

Post-apocalyptic. In particular, things that would be useful to me as a GM for a post-apocalyptic setting:
* Makeshift weapons not already covered: stun guns, pepper spray, Molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, nail guns, compound bows, etc. What might the PCs use if they don't have convenient access to an arsenal of M-16s?
* Scavenged/sub-par weapons with interesting characteristics, as further into the apocalypse, things are poorly maintained and used to exhaustion -- or bundled together from scrap. E.g., chance of breakage, limited use, chance of harming the user.
* Vehicle rules with road vehicle "running battles" in mind. E.g., a semi truck ought to dish out more damage to its target in a collision than a moped, even if they're going at the same speed. Open vehicles vs. partially-open vehicles vs. closed vehicles.
* Vehicle stats with distinguishing characteristics beyond just speed, crew, and Toughness. Factors such as fuel usage (what fuel/energy does it use, how efficiently, and how long/far can it go before refueling?) can be essential, as well as how easy/hard it is to maintain, how well it handles less-than-ideal conditions, etc.
* Modern locations made more interesting because they've been transformed after the apocalypse. What places might be the most ideal for trying to salvage civilization or at least some remnant of humankind?
* Different scenarios for the apocalypse and its aftermath. HOW the world breaks down (and how long after that our story starts) will definitely impact the "landscape" for the heroes. You can't cover EVERYTHING, but it might be nice to cover a few tropes.
I'm especially thinking of scenarios with room for "Mad Max" style road wars, at least until the gas runs out. The various Chase rules might work for the quick-and-dirty method, but they're a little too abstract to my mind, and I'd like there to be more to it than just Driving rolls and card draws. I'd like to get out my Micro Machines and stage a rolling road battle with miniatures.
Right now, my primary game focus is with pirates, and with Wonderland No More, but eventually, once I get my home games running again, I've got some ideas for some over-the-top post-apocalyptic action with a little bit of zombie apocalypse, a little bit of Red Dawn, and a whole lot of Mad Max. _________________

+1
I'm running a Slipstream and a Necessary Evil campaign (different groups).
Occasionally I run Deadlands one-offs.
I've already got CSI: Caribdus planned for when either of the running campaigns is completed.
Every now and again, I work on my Sunken Soviets homebrew setting.
Should that setting not be ready to run by the time I "need" to start a new campaign for the 2nd group, then I still have the Tour of Darkness PDF lying around.
I play in a Sundered Skies campaign.
And THEN there's still Interface Zero and Hellfrost and I wonder if I could run an L5R-like game with Iron Dynasty and y'know, Rippers would be a nice addition to the collection and... |

Would like to see a really good hard sci-fi setting.
And maybe another good standard fantasy setting tuned for SW with released modules and all the trappings. I'm talking standard vanilla brand "Greyhawk/Forgotten Realms/Golarion" type stuff. Trope elves, dwarves, hobbits sitting in taverns with robed wizards walking up and going "Hey, I got a job for you guys".
Give me maps, some starter settings, a nice bestiary tuned for the setting and some modules I can pick up and throw some players into on a Saturday night without a lot of thinking involved. |

Oh how I wish Fantasy Flight would do a Savage Worlds Star Wars...
Alas, this seems highly unlikely. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

Ditto. I'll probably break down and make my own this summer ...

I basically did this with the core rules, the Fantasy Companion (not sure you even need this anymore now that SWD has the races and most of the spells), Savage Beasts, and a copy of the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer (which is almost completely rules neutral). Then any old school module will supply an adventure and maps, and you just substitute monster stats from SWD or Savage Beasts. There is also Reality Blur's Old School Fantasy adventure series, SW-ready. No muss, low prep old-school fun for all! _________________ "It only takes an extra second to be courteous."

This poll gets a big "huh" from me, since most of those genres already have 1 or more professionaly created setting as well as a number of fan-made ones. There also seems to be a few genres missing like Sword & Sorcery and Historical Fantasy. I'm also not sure what's meant by the "Byzantine Fantasy" category? I can't say I've ever heard of that before - is that a medieval historical fantasy setting based on the Byzantine empire? Is so - heck yeah I'd like to see that.
I would have chosen "Space" as recent as a month ago, but exploring a potential Savage Battletech campaign has scratched that itch. The only genre I find myself really pining for our Historical fantasy set in Ancient, Medieval or WW I. Two of those will be addressed with Weird Wars Rome and Weird Wars I. No Medieval Historical fantasy is the biggie for me, but hey I'm working on it.
Count me as well amongst those who feel they already have too many settings for the amount of avaiable time. |

I bought all the old school fantasy adventures during the GM sale on rpgnow. What I'd really like though is basically Hellfrost, but with other fantasy settings.
In other words a very good release cycle of products.
Though I dunno. Do most people prefer just the 1 setting book(or 2, player and GM) and nothing else? Or do other people really like to see a lot of addons for any given setting? |

Thats only doable if if you have someone who can do a good Samuel L Jackson impersonation.
John Carter was really cool, so a sci-fi pulp setting in that vein would be fun.
Dr Who could make for some fun.

i suspect that when there is a cool hard Sci FI setting (Or maybe "firm", or even space opera!) out for Savage Worlds, folks are gonna snap that right up!!! _________________ "Anything smaller is just fiddly, and fiddly is not one of SvgW's three Fs..." |

I love sci fi but I can't get my friends into Slipstream or Mars. I guess what we all want is Star wars but with the serial numbers filed off.
Unfortunately my ADD keeps me from making a compelling open universe. I think it's because that is such a daunting task. Plus I'm still looking for a good hook. _________________ My Savage Worlds Blog

Personally, I'm a 1 setting book kinda guy. I only have so much money, much less time, to buy and read a million add-ons. However, there's obvious some interest in the larger product lines - hence Hellfrost. It's great to have a choice, for sure.
Oh, also, you should keep an eye out for the upcoming re-release of Shaintar. _________________ "It only takes an extra second to be courteous."

Byzantine Fantasy is just like it sounds. Historical Medieval set in the Byzantine Empire.
Always been a fascinating era for me.
I can see that SciFi has gotten a great following. Definitely a "hard" SciFi bent.
The choices for the poll were just to get the juices flowing.
Kind of surprised there haven't been more mash up requests as that seems to have grown in popularity lately.
Frankly I'd love to make a good Dieselpunk/SciFi/Alien Apocalypse setting. Kind of like Resistance meets Rocket Ship Empires '36. _________________ http://www.armsonline.org/

| For hard sci fi I keep thinking I'd love to convert GURPS Transhuman Space over to SW. Then I get intimidated by the amount of stuff and go back to working on my fantasy world... |

What I like best about the Wiggly Toolkits & Companion books is that you can pick and choose elements that you want and make you're own unique SW game. I prefer this much more over a ready-made game world. _________________
