|
|
So for a long time I've wanted to run an adventure in England but there is no content created about it. Recently find myself with a lot of free time on my hands I've decided to create some for it.
My question is what sort of methods does Pinnacle use for their research, because a lot of their stuff is based on true history with slight twists on it. I'm specifically interested in how they did "Back East: The North" cause in that they seem to follow real events of the time even more closely.
Also where is there a large amount of fan made material for deadlands, both classic and reloaded, cause I'd like to share this with people who might also want a Great Britain sourcebook. |

I think DL: Great Britain is essentially Rippers. That setting's out of print, but the pdf is available. Or you could use Solomon Kane. But Britain doesn't really have the connection to The West, so I'm not sure why you'd want to run a Deadlands game there. _________________ My blog: http://ninjasridingdinosaurs.wordpress.com/ - Now with occassional updates! |

| I imagine manitous running around Merry Olde England could be pretty interesting, perhaps a cross between Deadlands and Cthulhu by Gaslight? Sherlock Holmes chasing down a real Hound of the Baskervilles! Moriarity slinking away from Reichenbach Falls as a Harrowed! |

Ask a Brit?
Most of us struggle to conceptualise the sweeping distances of the US so can understand the reverse being true.
We have royalty, industrialism, the Empire, fractious relationships with Europe (never mind you bloody colonials) whilst all being wrapped up in a densely populated island and arguably the very heart of intrigue and power.
But no spurs. |

In this day and age, Wikipedia is a great tool to find out about events at the time. Then you just let your imagination run wild.
Before Wikipedia, Pinnacle probably used their local library. I think history books aimed at the general public (or even kids) are great sources because they give you the important and recognizable pieces of history without bogging you down with minutia. _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. From reading the various books, ol' blighty's not going through as much sweeping upheaval at home as it is abroad. I always hoped they would've done a "Eerie Europe" supplement, but no such luck.
If you decide to do it yourself, get some history books and remember that the Reckoners are in it for the long game. So don't make it TOO weird, Weird West may have steam tech and magic, but basically it's still just cowboys and indians...
