For the new Deadlands books do you need the Player's Guide if you plan on being the GM and already have the Marshal's Guide? Is there anything in the Player's Guide not covered in the Marshal's Guide?
Thanks in advance! |

There's very little (if any) repeated content; the Marshal needs both.
Player's Guide has the rules, Marshal's Handbook has the setting info, for the most part. (The new books are, essentially, the first printing of Deadlands Reloaded split in two.) _________________ Matthew Cutter

| I have the previous Deadlands Reloaded hardback. Should I just keep and use that? Are there any changes in the new books and if so, where can I download the changes? |

You want the Additions to the Second Printing from the Downloads Page. That should bring you up to date. _________________ Joel Kinstle

So I can use my Deadlands Reloaded book plus those additions with my Savage Worlds Deluxe rulebook and I'll be totally up to date?
If so, that is awesome!

| Even though I have Reloaded I'm still debating on buying the new books just to have everything I need within their pages. |

If you download the pages from the link, then you'll have everything from the new book(s). _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

I just hope the difficulty modifiers and things of that nature in the old DL R book will be compatible with SW Deluxe as well but this is all good news so far!
Thanks. |

As long as it's the Reloaded book, it all matches up. The only things that I know of (and I'm not the authority) that are new and different in SWD are a few new edges (that may be superseded by the Deadlands edges, such as Martial Arts) and the powers. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. They are. No changes of that magnitude were introduced in Deluxe.
You can find some recent posts by Clint clarifying how a few of the new SWD Edges interact with Deadlands (or don't). Cases in point: Adept is not allowed in Deadlands, and the Martial Arts track and associated Edges are superceded by Deadlands. For powers, there's no issue since all available powers for the setting are in the Player's Guide.
We'll be bringing the Deadlands powers closer into line with SWD at some point. Until then, you're free to introduce the SWD versions of powers but you'll be flying solo for a bit.
And to be totally accurate, the new printing has many minor adjustments. All the first printing Errata is incorporated, along with the additional, new material. The Marshal's Handbook has a page of new flavor text about the Reckoners and their plots, by region. It also has a few minor adjustments, like finally giving incredibly stealthy wall crawlers the Stealth skill, tweaks to Stone's profile, etc. Plus, the new printing includes lots of Classic art that hasn't seen the light in years (the cover of Boomtowns! being my fave).
So do you need them? Absolutely not. Are they cool? Well, yeah, we think so, amigo. _________________ Matthew Cutter

Been waiting on word for the Explorer size Marshall Book before going looking for it at the FLGS, but didn't see anything...have I missed word on it?
Forever curious and would hate to start more rumors, love, Stompy. |

It's still available for preorder, but the physical copies aren't available yet. They are on their way, though. _________________ Joel Kinstle
