I'm working on a conversion of Nintendo's seminal series into a Savage Setting!

I love Zelda...I'm looking forward to what you do.

I love Zelda so much that if we have a girl my wife and I are gonna name her Zelda Jane.

Holy Crap...

My kids will love this.

I'll have them critique it. You've been warned #1eek13 .

Off Topic: I wanted to do a Ratchet & Clank campaign, but was too damn lazy to stat everything up. Maybe someday. Cool

I was this close to convincing my wife to name our daughter Zelda Rose but she eventually decided she didn't like it... :{

I just last week finished playing through Twilight Princess (or, as my 3-year-old son calls it, "the game with Link"). The whole time, I was thinking about Savaging it. My main stumbling block is that the lore has been so inconsistent between the games. So I'm very curious what you come up with for this!

Ooh, cripes. I'll have to step my game up. Children are the least forgiving of mistakes in lore.

I'm thinking of adding "Racial Edges" , but I don't know if there's precedent.

If anyone has suggestions for aspects they'd like me to adress first, I'm all ears. I'll probably be tackling Magic first, and as the inspiration hits me for items and races, I'll be adding to them. Also, I'll be starting Skyward Sword soon, so I'll be adding the least spoilerish stuff from that as I come to it.

Fantasy Companion has them (you can also see them in the Warriors and Wizards download for free if you do not have FC.)

Just a reminder. You're not suppose to post conversions of copyrighted material directly on the forums (unless Clint had changed this policy). Posting it on a web site/blog/whatever and providing a link to it on the forums is okay though.

Just curious, is it okay if he were to change the names? Like "The Legend of Zalda" or Hirool, or Gorrunz.

Are you referring to my use of Nintendo terms? I don't think that the race names or whatnot are copyrighted... But I'm not certain....

You can bet your ass those names are copyrighted. I don't even have to look, I bet you dollars to donuts that of you look on the inside covers of your instruction manuals it's something about all characters, places names or whatever being the property of Nintendo.
You could not make a game set in the land of Hyrule where Hylians, and Gorons live.

But I am curious about the policy on the "...with the serial numbers filed off" loop hole.

COuld I post material about Gedi Knights who defend the Galactic Federation from the evil Cith Empire?

Well, regardles I'm sure it falls under Fair Use. I just don't know if it's against forum rules. I don't want to rock the boat.

Names aren't protected by copyright, but they could very well be trademarked. So beware of magical knights.

Fair Use is for things like reviews, commentary, etc - like when someone quotes a few lines of the SW rules in reference to a question or discussion. A conversion is more like fan fiction, some authors allow it while others don't.

The rules are posted at the top of this forum, although they appear to refer to copywriting (the use of words to promote or advertise something) rather than copyright (the right to make copies). However I suspect that may be a typo, as the description of this forum mentions copyright.

I'd second Sitting Duck's suggestion - create a blog and link to it.

IIRC that sort of thing is permitted under the forum rules.

I've actually been planning a Savage Legend of Zelda game for the longest time myself, set in the time of Ocarina of Time, starting just before Ganondorf invades Hyrule. (Adult timeline)

The problems I've been having are how to handle the magic, since it's there in both spells and sword techiques but not very common, and having almost no players who have played LoZ and appreciate the setting.

I look forward to what you've come up and gladly help if I can.
