Ashen Stars uses the Gumshoe system to provide investigative adventures in a future setting. In the book the writers mention the possibility that people might choose to use other systems in the setting, recommending that the Gumshoe system is retained for investigation (there a LOT of investigative skills!) and another system slotted in for other things. The setting is interesting and the book has some good advice about running games and keeping all the players involved. The starship section for ship design and combat is intriguing too and could be Savaged with minimal effort.
I’d like some advice on one Savageing race.
There is a race described as getting more beautiful and alluring with age. I think the best way to represent this is to add one to Charisma at each rank (so a seasoned character would be +2). How much do you think this is worth as part of the races build?
The race’s description makes them “feel” to me as if they are half way between elves and vulcans
For information:
Characters generally start at Seasoned
There is a great deal of cyber- and viro-ware in the setting. I am using the Super Powers Companion for these as well as for some the racial abilities (one race has the Intangible power for example). At the end of character generation characters may buy up to four points of SPC powers in exchange for taking additional hindrances:
Hindrance Power Points
Debt(Minor/Major) 1 or 2
Enemy (Minor/Major) 1 or 2
Habit (Major only) 2
Poverty (Minor) 1
Wanted (Minor/Major) 1 or 2 |

Ashen Stars is great! I never thought about using SW for it though. The Investigation aspect seems so detail driven with all the different skills they are very different in their approach. Looking forward to what you can come up with.
Considering +2 charisma is +2 I would put this advantage at +3 since it is spread out over the whole career. _________________ Read my Blog about all things Savage: http://www.chaotic-gm.com |

| That's pretty much the conclusion I came to in the end. |

What about something like Savage Lore, for Savage Worlds + GUMSHOE, as Lorefinder was for Pathfinder + GUMSHOE?
It seams interesting and not so difficult. _________________

Age isn't (usually) a function of Rank though ...
I might give them a +2 Charisma as standard, and modify the Young and Elderly hindrances for them.
Young also gives a -1 Charisma for this race only, but grants an additional benefit (perhaps an extra skill point) and Elderly gives +1 Charisma at the cost of one of the Smarts skill points that it grants.
If a young character plays for enough 'game time' to reach maturity, then give them the +1 Charisma back. _________________ Currently Playing:

Did you ever finish this? if you did, I'd love to see what you came up with for savaging Ashen Stars.
Cheers
