I'm planning on running my posse through a campaign that has about 4 adventures each corresponding to a different Reckoner, and I was wondering if anyone had ever wondered about season and how they might be linked to a specific Reckoner.

Winter could be for almost any of them except maybe War

Fall could maybe be linked to Pestilence and War

Summer would most likely be War (cause people go crazy from the heat) and Death (people die from heat stroke)

Spring is the hardest to think of anything for, because it's suppose to be the season that bring new life and all that

Any thoughts and recommendations are greatly appreciated

Just quickly - no, haven't had the idea, and now I've read it, it doesn't catch me Laughing

But since you mentioned Spring as spreading life... why not Spring as spreading viruses Wink

Spring is perfect for War - there is a reason the first month of spring is called March!

I would do:

Spring - War
Summer - Pestilence
Fall - Death
Winter - Famine

Pestilence is the plug. Fall has always been associated with death (the harvest comes as plants are dying), and of course Winter's risk is always running out of food

Summer = Drought = people drinking whatever water they can find = people drinking bad water = spread of disease.

all of the above Laughing

(seriously - the results seem to proove my point - far too many ideas and pointing out one aspect over another leads to not being convinced by the results)

honestly, I would put Death at Winter. Death has always been asociated with winter and the cold, and everything 'dies' in the winter. I'd put Famine in Fall. Everything starts dying, causing wide-spread famine.

But, by the same token, Famine could be associated with Winter due to the lack of everything green, lack of food, etc.

To me, there are simply too many combinations that fit for a theme like this--it's not a natural 1-to-1 pick. Adding a seasonal link to each Reckoner isn't something I'd do anytime soon.

Spring = famine

Re: it's about this time that people start running out of food from the previous winter. There are no mature plants with fruit, nuts or any vegetables in quantity. The rains come and slowly start to weed off the week ones from the previous winter.

Summer = war

Re: this is the best time to carry out battles. Food is plentiful with fruit, nuts and possibly some vegetables ripening. There is always critters to eat too.

Fall = pestilence

Re: wars have just ended. Spring killed off many, war killed off a whole lot more and there has been no one to reap the harvest. Food just rots in the fields. Diseased bodies have decayed into the ground water. There aren't enough hands to gather the majority of the crops that have been planted from the spring.

Winter = death

Re: no food, lots of disease and old wounds from the summers war(s).

Just my thoughts taking into historical considerations Cool
