I'm still trying to best understand when a chase ends, particularly a foot chase. If I don't want to beat the person being chased into Incapacitation, would a successful Grapple be pretty much the only way to end the chase (or maybe throwing something at their legs with a called shot)? _________________ Lord Inar

Choose the length of the chase and then as the rules state, "At the end of the last round, any prey who haven’t been otherwise stopped or captured escape and the pursuit ends."
So anything that would stop or capture the target would end the chase before they escape. Incapacitation is a pretty sure way to stop an opponent, but the GM can rule that there are other ways or what constitutes "capturing" them. Though unless a target could still run while carrying another person, grappling would likely do it.
Hope that helps. _________________ Clint Black
