I like AOB, but i've never been a huge fan of horror RPG's. Its great once in a while, but to me, its never been something to hang a campaign around.

So, I think with AOB, I'm going to simply jettison the horror element except for a few adventures here and there.

Instead, I think I will go with a mix of James Bond, Hellboy, and Warehouse 13. You'll still be tracking down things that go bump in the night, but it will be less horror and more High adventure.

Does anyone think this will kill the setting, or do you think it might play better?

I think the setting was designed to do just this sort of thing. Don't like a specific thing or you don't want to use it all the time... Then go for it.
The thing I love most about AoO is the pick and choose option and that it will work any way the Director wants it to!
Happy hunting, Agent!

That's exactly what I did. I went for the Warehouse 13, Fringe, and X-Files take on it. A great resource for Warehouse 13 ideas is this one:

Some adventures that can be converted

The Alternity/D20 Dark Matter setting is also an excellent resource.

I ran No Man's Land(with AoO beta about a year ago) and it worked out pretty well.

That's quite okay. AoO is designed for flexibility.

I'm a big fan of all the shows you've mentioned. AoO can nimbly handle James Bond and Warehouse 13 right out of the gate. I've got a number of projects sketched out which will satisfy varying playing styles. For example, one thing I'll be working on is Project M which is a definite match for a Hellboy style of play.

It certainly won't kill the setting at all and I wouldn't necessarily say better, only differently from what's in the core, and that's perfectly okay. A select number of the support projects we'll be releasing for AoO won't necessarily be designed to be thrown together as they will fundamentally impact play styles. That being said, we'll be striving for compatibility so you can mix and match some of these things if you want to. I've some pet projects for the line as does Ed and I know of several which are era-specific, slices of time and how the agents operated within them, such as the Cold War, the Victorian Age, and so on. These things take time however.

Absolutely. We hope you'll find plenty of inspiration and information in both the core book and the pending support. The goal is to provide options, not strip them away. Take what you want to make your game as awesome as you can!

Very cool!

I'll invite everyone to hope onto our forums and join us in a cross-pollination of ideas. We want to grow the AoO community and need your help. Read the Mister E Missive #3 where Ed tells you what we're looking for.

Best,

Sean
