Hey, guys! First, thanks for your passion and dedication to sharing this fantastic game you've created with all of us.

Now that I've buttered you up (and if that wasn't enough, don't worry; I'll get more butter...), I was wondering if you had ever considered recording a game session GM'd by someone "official" (i.e. employed by Pinnacle). I'm sure you must have seen similar videos by another game company involving the "Robot Chicken" guys?

I would love to see some of the afore-mentioned passion and dedication being applied to an actual game session with brand new players. Not only would it serve as a great marketing tool, it would also help new players familiarize themselves with the rules system.

I'm thinking of a relatively short "Savage Tale" kind of adventure, not a continuing campaign. In fact, I think the videos with the Robot Chicken guys was a bit overkill, as there were too many of them, and too many hours of game time to slog through. I'd like to see something taped in a single evening of game play, no longer than, say, 3 to 5 hours.

Any chance of something like this happening? Is there anything I can do to *encourage* you to make this happen? Donuts? Bagels? Puppies or kittens? Cake or pie?

What do you think?

Wow, 10 days later and still no response from anyone from Pinnacle? Not even the janitor?

Did I not use enough butter? Wink

For clarity's sake, I wasn't looking for "Wow, you're a genius, we will have this done on November 13th at 7:32 pm!"

Not looking for any kind of comittment. Ya don't even hafta buy me dinner. I just kinda wondered what you thought of the idea. Smile

Well, as an note to anyone, posting this kind of question over the weekend is more likely to get missed in the Monday-morning-return-to-forums-clean-up-spam-check-rules-questions-where's-my-coffee haze. Not an excuse, but it does happen.

Now, as far as the question goes, there are a couple of stumbling blocks.

1 - We don't really have the capability or time to create a video of the quality we would want.

2 - I'm not sure if we have a Pinnacle employee who will show up on camera. #Evil Bat Wink

But, that said, never say never I suppose to the idea in theory.

Joel, Matt, Teller, and Shane (among others) all seem to show up just fine... I remember that there used to be a picture of Clint, but it has magically vanished (at least, that's what I think happened...).

Then again, I shouldn't be talking since I don't show up on film very easily.

Thank you for the response, Clint.

Edit: lol, I'm a bit thick today, Clint; I thought your comment about employees "showing up on camera" meant that some of you were a bit camera shy. Now I get it.

You funny guy. Smile

Maybe someone would be willing to sit near a table and get a video of us gaming at Con on the Cob. The Cob takes cares of about 90% of the logistics. Smile

OK - anything made by GWG would have to be of a certain quality, but anything made by a fan could be a good as it needs to be with no bad reflection on GWG if it is not so great.

This needs:

1. Someone with decent presenting skills that knows and likes SW
2. Someone to operate the camera
3. Someone to do some video editing
4. SW Fan material badging.
5. A script.

So,

how about having a competition for the best fan-video presenting "SWD for Dummies" with the winner getting honor, glory and a big beardy kiss from Clint (or monetary equivalent).

Done and done! I *love* Journey Quest, so what an awesome way to create a win/win situation. I get to support a web series that I love *and* hopefully see a Savage Worlds video.

Now, I seemed to have missed where to put in that you are supporting Pinnacle when I made the contribution, but I went in to the comments tab afterwards and made sure to make it clear that's what I was doing.

Thanks for the heads up, Clint!

EDIT: Oh, and Timon, your idea is ALSO chock full of win. A competition to see who could make the best/most polished Savage Worlds intro vid would also rock. I'm sure there are a LOT of creative people out there who would be able to create something really awesome. I say we keep this idea on the table!

I'm working on a video that explains combat at the table with cutaways of the fight being performed in real life. I figure it might be easier to picture with... a picture, or video in this case.

With the economy and all, what's that worth these days?

Later,

P.S. I rarely post off-topic, but I just couldn't resist.

I'd love to see...

A video of actual game play using miniatures

Video Overview

or just a podcast of actual play at the least!

Wow, I'm going to have to say that you guys do really want a SW game play video. I got contacted by the guys from JourneyQuest yesterday and was informed that in the first day, the Savage tally had already reached over 60% of that goal. Surprised Cool

You guys rock!

So let me explain a bit about the sponsorship thing. What you guys have already done is enough to be credited as a "quarter screen logo" co-sponsor of an episode. That means that one of the JourneyQuest episodes will have something akin to "This episode sponsored by X, Y, Z, and fans of Savage Worlds" with a quarter screen sized logo.

If the $5000 mark is reached (which seems very likely now), you guys will give SW a half screen logo credit in an episode, and if we are able to reach $10,000 in the Savage tally (which considering we are a third of the way there in just one day, I think it's entirely possible), one of the episodes will have a full screen logo credit.

That would be pretty cool, but remember that this is all just an extra bonus they are offering; you still get all the normal rewards for each contribution level which are awesome in themselves.

Anyway, just an update and thanks for proving that Savages are the best people ever!

That is awesome, and thanks very much for the update, Clint!

One of the things I like about the way they have this all set up is that I can "manage" my subscription, which means that I can increase it if I so desire. Not sure if I'll be able to swing it, but I'm hoping that with the next paycheck or two, I'll be able to go back in and "give it a raise". We'll see. Mr. Green

I'm not sure if we made the Savage Worlds goal yet, but holy cow, I just checked the fundraising page to find that they've already met their goal of 60,000 in the first 11 days.

They are currently at $68,443, with 38 days still to go!

Even if we don't make it, they've still done very well for themselves.

But we better make it. Twisted Evil
