A friend of mine was looking for the Deadlands Classic Adventure "Dead Presidents." It's available on your online store in print form, but not PDF form. Is there any chance that you could add a PDF version of that adventure? _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. Any Setting. No Extra Cost.

This one has come up before...
| Shane wrote: | Sorry all. Dead Presidents is one of several books that weren't properly backed up and saved by former PEG staff. Most of those have since been scanned by Drive-Thru RPG (before their merger with RPGNOW), but it seems Dead Presidents was left off the list.
We'll see if we can get this fixed sometime, but scanning a book to the level of quality we need takes a better setup than we have, and DTRPG has a lot on their plate right now, so it will likely be a while.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I just searched for Shane's original post and saw that he said that back in 2007. I'm sorry if I sound impatient but...I guess I'm a bit surprised that it's still not up after 4 years. Maybe it got lost in the queue somewhere?
Also, below Shane's response, a user said that he scanned the whole book in using some really nice scanning equipment he used to own and he e-mailed it to Shane. Any chance that he's still got that file? _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. Any Setting. No Extra Cost.

I'm sure that someone has a sufficiently high quality scanner now to create print files from a scanned document. Moore's Law and all. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

Or they can, you know, devote their no doubt limited time to work on the pile of new material they have in the pipeline... _________________ Contributing Editor of Shark Bytes

Don't be so sure. Just because technology continually improves doesn't mean that someone has invested in newer hardware if they didn't have the need for it. |

I didn't mean to imply that "someone" was limited to Pinnacle staff. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

Given that there are plenty of services out there that can create a PDF and/or e-book format out of a paper book (even non-destructively) it comes down to having the physical book, paying for digitization and some hours for QA/validation.
You could have an intern do it and I bet you could find a lot of capable people who would love to intern at Pinnacle...so if you guys are short handed... _________________ Biting! It's like kissing but there's a winner!
