I really enjoy the Explorer's Edition of Savage Worlds, even posted a playtest review on RPG.net some years ago. So tell me more about this new edition! Any outline yet of how it will differ from previous ones? Is the difference primarily in the additional setting material, or are there mechanical changes?

Since we have had too much of an Edition War with any other printing of the rules, I don't see too much of one here. Wink

That said, yep, some things will be different. We've learned a lot since we first sat down with the system, and we've always felt it's important to improve each subsequent printing, and this one is no different in that regard.

What this book really is, is an expanded edition of the rules, a truly Deluxe Edition. Not just additional information, but expanded explanations of the rules in not only how they work, but in some cases why they work as they do.

It's kind of everything we know and have learned about the core of Savage Worlds condensed, codified, and contained in one book.

You mean like, 160 pages, hardbound (full-size not Explorer size), and $29.99. Very Happy

Is this going to be in the Explorer's Edition format, or is it a full-size hardcover?

And is this intended to replace the Explorers Edition, or will both be available?

Will we get any actual rules changes as an free update like we did with previous re-printings?

I'm actually more bummed by it being full sized than by it having a higher price. If I had my way all game books from all companies would be Explorer's Edition sized.

That was a good question though, is it fully a new edition replacing the Explorer's Edition, or will one Deluxe Edition at a table with 6 Explorer's Editions jive OK?

Will there be a standalone PDF or PDF preorder bundle in the near future?

Are the rules changes enough that I'll need to get it? I'll be buying it sooner or later regardless, but the $9.99 for the Explorer's Edition is what drew a lot of my friends to system.

I have a feeling that there will always be the test drive rules out there for the low price point entry - and if as Clint states this is an expanded edition (emphasis mine) then I would posit that the explorer's edition will still contain everything you need to play Savage Worlds, but not nescesarily everything you want - which the Deluxe edition might well provide a little more of.

Only time, or the PEG staffers will tell, and I have a feeling the latter will be only as vocal as they need to be to pique our interest even more Wink

As long as I have a copy, I guess we'll be fine. Heck we lasted playing most tabletop games with one book forever. The ExEd just kinda spoiled us, I guess. Laughing
