After a search that brought uo over 250 threads I was thinking we need a central thread for Paper Minis et al.
So I'm starting one!
Here are some paper tents I made that I thought I would share:
Let me know what you think. _________________ Proud co-creator of the 1,000+ Random Encounter Generator found here!

An Excellent idea, sir.
Hopefully more contributions and compilations will be added, and this thread will get stickied.
In the mean time, this link leads to dozens of paper miniatures of all kinds:

| I use a lot of Dave Grafam's stuff. Dave Grafam Models. Cheap and easy to make. Have a nice city starting to spring up. |

My preference is drawing for each scene. Someone mentioned using a white-board and I think that (or chalk) would be a great tabletop. Add minis from Warhammer-type games and you're all set for all of the moving parts. But I'm a bit lazy and I think having 3D maps would be pretty cool. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

I use mostly paper minis (flats) for my SW games. Thanks for the tents! They will be used here. I just made 2 of the first tent design-nice.
I have all the Pennicle Cardstock Cowboys. That reminds me: Anyone know where to get some paper minis that match the Martial artist and ogre Deadlands NPCs?

| I have a fairly extensive collection of paper buildings from old 2nd edition Warhammer Fantasy Battles scenario packs. I also have 2 of the old styrofoam Citadel Castle sets. I've literally been able to cover an entire table to make a good sized walled town. I've also got plenty of ruined buildings for 40k and several bunkers; however, I tend to use Paizo flip mats and dry erase markers more often than terrain pieces since I rarely seem to have the need to stage an outdoor scene in a fantasy village or sci-fi ruins. Most of the time I need floorplans and although I've often toyed with the idea of building some modular tiles, I've thus far not been willing to put in the time and effort into it. I have used Dundjinni in the past to create custom floor plans, but it was killing me in toner to print them out, so I went back to the flip mats and dry erase markers. |

| I have lots of buildings from Dave Graffam, Finger and Toe, Worldwors,... but I use them for skirmish wargames. For roleplaying, I prefer to use 2D tiles on a screen, using Maptool. It is easier to setup, you can save positions for later and it is quicker to improvise. |

Pulling some good info from another thread:

Feeling crafty? Want custom figure flats that look *exactly* like your character?
All you need is a little imagination, some scissors, some cardstock, a printer, and some glue.
First, use this website to design a character picture, or have your players design their own:
http://www.ugo.com/games/superhero-generator-heromachine-2-5
This website is fairly universal, and covers multiple genres from fantasy to science fiction to modern day to horror to superheroes. The only thing it can't really do well is truly bizarre anatomy, as everything more or less has to be humanoid. There are options for centaurs, snake-body, and so forth, however.
Take a screen shot (usually just by hitting Print Screen on your keyboard) and open up some image editing software. Must computers these days have some pre-installed image editing software, like MS Paint or MS Picture Manager.
Paste your screen shot into the image editor, and crop it down until it just shows the picture of the character, and save it.
Using MS Word (or some other word processing program), create a table with borders that has one row and four columns. Set the column width to be 1 inch, and the row height to be 1.5 inches. I use a 1 inch width because that's the default size for most RPGs.
Paste your character picture into the first three rows of the table, making sure to re-size the picture if need be to get it to fit within the cell dimensions.
If you want to get fancy, you can flip one of the middle images so that they're facing each other, and set the image in the first column to grayscale. The first column represents the back of the figure, so making it grayscale sets it apart to be easily identified as such.
So, your document should look something like this:
Print the figure flats on cardstock, and cut them out. Fold along the column borders, and glue the blank column to the back of the first column, and let them dry.
Viola! Figure flats that are identical to your player's characters.

I tried this and liked what came out. _________________ Proud co-creator of the 1,000+ Random Encounter Generator found here! |

Hmmm, Ham and Cheese.
I mean, I just need time to do some terrainbuilding. But I'm definitely in favour of adding a little "shine" to the gaming table this way.
Fat Dragon games is selling bundles at reduced prices at the moment, as a holiday sale. |

When I want to craft minis, I just use a Word document.
It's easy as cake!

| Thanks for the tents! They're so useful in so many genres, I've been looking for some. When I make them, I'm going to try leaving off the floor. They're small enoguh they'll still be strong, and that will allow me to stack them inside each other for storage and I'll be able to hide figures or treasure inside the tents and lift them off the tabletop to reveal to the players. |
