x Neal, a couple of personal notes about the strange cats:
- toughness is wrong
- you miss the parry value
- you could put in a single line the 2 attacks, 'cause they are standard ones, no special rules; something like: Bite/Claws: text
- maybe you should keep simplt Str+d4 damage, 'cause is already quite low, even without the extra -1.
- maybe 8 pace is a little too much? The standard 6 could suffice, or you could give'em a 7.

These are the first I'm seeing of these biohorrors.

It's my understanding that Neal is writing an IZ adventure for use at a Con in Denver this fall. If any of you savages out there are going to the Con, get with him, because I'm hooking him up with free digital copies of IZ, plus a Poster of the new cover.

In general I think they're pretty cool examples of the kinds of biohorrors characters might find, especially in an urban environment.

Like I said, it was pretty late and I lose IQ points by the hour. After midnight, I grow a prehensile tail and get opposable thumbs on my feet. Mr. Green

The Toughness should be 4. Don't know what I was thinking.

I'm going to go with a Parry of 5, despite the fact that I get in fights with my cat all the time and his reaction times are much better than mine.

I think a speed of 8 is still pretty accurate for a housecat running full-out. When I sneak up on my cat and use an air horn or pop a balloon behind him, I'm pretty sure he can cover 16 yards in six seconds.

For the damage, I'm going to stick with Str+d4-1 just because I don't want to have the possibility of a first level commoner being killed by a paranoid, psychotic housecat like mine. When my cat jumps on my face while I'm sleeping, sure, there's superficial claw damage and I choke on a hairball (please God, let it be just a hair ball), but I wouldn't say I was Shaken. Angry and in desperate need of antiseptic ointment, oh yeah, but Shaken, not really.

Please remember that when you attack a "Small" target, you get -2 to your Fighting skill, while for the same rule, the cat gets a +2 to attack you.

About your "real world considerations", pleaser remember that Savage Worlds is a roleplay game, and it should balance on his own values, so you should balance your creature/enemy based on the other creatures you find around the books. Of course, I'm not 100% serious when I tell you this thing, 'cause this is not an important issue... Wink Wink
Here an example: a human can run max 12" (24 meters/yards) in a single turn. A fine athlete ("fleet footed") can run max 18" (36 meters/yards).
A turn is 6 seconds. We are quite distant from "real world" speeds.

You can easily understand that we have to keep balancing the things staying within the system bundaries. Of course it's impossible that a man can run and hope to stay near a horse gallopping for more than a couple of seconds... But in a RpG it's simply "good", funny, pulp, if your athletic character can hope to run near a horse with a little luck and jump on him!

That's combat speed. Vehicle speeds are doubled the listed value outside of combat. No reason that doesn't apply to creatures as well. Usain Bolt isn't watching for enemies or checking if his mates are being beaten senseless. Smile

Yeah Wiggy, I know that SW uses "combat speeds", and that "real world" top speed is about SW x2,5 (same thing for the ranges of weapons, obviously more "compressed" than real world counterparts 'cause we have to justify a battle in a game map no more larger than 20 - 40 squares).

The core part of my thought stay valid. Neal can "build" the S.W. cat using "SW numbers", not with real worlds comparations (I repeat, I'm not 100% serius when I keep insisting on this numbers... It's just for fun, ok? Mr. Green ). A cat is quite small, and has a speed comparable to human, while surely is really agile, dodgy, it has awarness etc.
PS: in a "chase scene" in S.W. you use Agility more than top speed, so your cat should usually beat a man in a daredevil run thru the house, even with the stardard Pace of 6!!! Mr. Green

True dat. I guess Pace 4 for a cat is more realistic -- they can only move so far without washing. Wink

Damn straight! It would also avoid a lot of obstacles. Dining room table and chair? I'll just go under them! High jump required? You seen the power in these back legs, you furless biped?

Just an FYI, but the Saturday adventure of Interface Zero was one of the first games to sell out at Savage Tacticon on Labor Day. There's still one more game that has seats on Thursday night, but it's going sell out quick.

The people are demanding it.

thurak

Hey,
I am very excited about Interface Zero, it is the cyberpunk game I have been waiting for for a long time!

I was wondering 1) Is it on schedule for October release and 2) will it be distributed in the US. Cubicle 7's website lists the price in British pounds.

Thanks,
-Jesse

Hiya Jesse,

Welcome to the boards!

First off, thanks for your interest in IZ! We've been working really hard on it and I think the final product is going to kick some serious hoop!

To answer your questions, Yes, the Hardcover book is absolutely on schedule for an October release through Cubicle-7 games. The pdf will release VERYsoon, so if you're a fan of PDF's you might want keep an eye out for that.

We're extremely happy to be working with the guys at Cubicle-7 to get Interface Zero into print and distribution to various game stores in both Europe and North America (and perhaps elsewhere, though I don't know the specifics of where the books will be distributed).

The price for the Hardcover, I believe, will be 24.99 in the U.S. Don't quote me on that though, I have to talk with Angus.

I'm also working out a deal with Cubicle-7 where if you pre-order the book on their website, you'll get the PDF for free, so keep an eye out for that announcement.

Thanks again for your interest!

Just a quick update everyone!

I'm waiting on the maps and final proofs for IZ and then this baby is out the door!

It's clocking in at roughly 287 pages before the index, but I have a few other things I'll be adding to the book, like the 2-page character sheet, an IZ campaign planner, program cards, npc cards and Favor counters, so you can track your character's free favors without erasing and writing on your CS.

Good to hear it's nearly ready.

If you can get the deal sorted out with Angus, my money's on its way! Smile

The Savage Worlds Edition of Interface Zero is just about Done! 300 pages of cyberpunk hotness! I'm doing the last minute checks and a bit of graphic design for some printable NPC/Contact cards, program cards and Domain cards, and then it's off to Cubicle-7 for approval!

It's been a hella long road with this one, but the savage Worlds edition of IZ is the best, most complete version yet!

I want to also say I've finalized the agreement with Cubicle-7 to print this puppy in hard Cover, with an October release date!

If you pre-order the Book ( which will retail for 39.99 U.S), you get the pdf as a free download!

I'll drop this link now, so those of you who are interested can take advantage:

IZ pre-order page

Thanks to everyone for your feedback, comment and criticisms.

I've tried to take all of your advice to heart during the development of this book, and I hope you all enjoy it!

I'll be announcing the release of the PDF when it becomes available.

Thanks for your time.
