No, you did that to yourself. Razz Though I'll grant you that the TV Tropes wiki is quite addictive.

Sounds like Dead Space, at least that's what jumped into my mind.

There's lots of amazing stuff in this thread! I was starting to prepare for a game in a few weeks where my Sci-Fi Savages are going to encounter just this very thing, the plan was to have it being ruled over by a somewhat sadistic Vampiress who has integrated with the network and controls the ships systems. She will "toy" with the players as they try to find her so they can get off the wretched vessel.

I think most of the OP's questions have been answered, and answered well. I just wanted to give props to all who've said something in this thread (and maybe throw some knives at 77IM whom's comment lead to me following the original link - but I won't because of that insightful analysis of traps! You've changed my life!).

For reference, Jackhalfprayer, I never think about solutions to my puzzles and my players always come out the other side in (mostly) one piece. I just think of problems, that's my job as the DM (I call myself the Problem Facilitator - sometimes). They'll work something out, and generally speaking the trick is to say yes, and then let the dice decide Smile

It reminds me of the old Space Hulk board game. Also, I remember some coffee-table-size book from when I was a kid (in the 70s) that had all this amazing artwork of derelict spacecraft. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Nevermind - I found it! Spacewreck: Ghostships and Derelicts of Space by Stewart Cowley.

The Terran Trade Authority

You can see a lot of the images here. Also there is information on a Terran Trade Authority RPG which I didn't know existed.

Angus McKie, another great space artist of the late 70s (I really love the one with the skeletonized astronaut at the bottom).

Check this baby out. I think she's right up your alley...

MisFortune

She's a cursed freighter/container ship. The possibilities are endless. Surprised

The Ki-Ryn Studios stuff is fantastic (and affordable). These deckplans look beautiful printed full color and mounted on black foamcore. Many of these have a gritty Firefly/Alien look. I highly recommend 'em. Smile
