|
|
Ok, i already have Day After Ragnarok which i will consider my primary source book but what other books (considering new rules, Edges, Flaws, weapons etc) should I take a look at?
I figure that Weird War II and Tour of Darkness might have some good stuff in it. I have seen neither so I don't know for sure.
Necropolis might see some use but Since i want the game set in the 20th or 21st century it might be too future.
Any PDF add-ons of which i should be aware?
Any source literature at which I should take a look? |

ToD is pretty great, with some good ideas and monsters in it. Many of the edges are specific to Viet Nam era solidering, but some could be more general.
You might try the Pulp GM's toolkit. It has critters, edges and hindrances that mirror some of the pulp tropes that inspired DaR.
Also, GURPS Atormic Horror (or whatever) might be good....thost giant B movie monsters and what not. The Fantasy Toolkit bestiary has lots of critters that can double as post-apoc, if you file off the serial numbers. Same for Horror, but those attack the spirit mainly. Deadlands Reloaded has many icky horrors, like prarie ticks, that would be good post-apoc monsters as well. _________________ My online portfolio:

Weird War II has plenty of stuff I figured would work for DAR, too.
GURPS Atomic Horror would be appropriate, as Hite did the 2nd edition. Bonus trivia: I did the templates in AH 2e, so I will ludicrously claim to have co-written with Hite. _________________ --

I would recommend Wiggy's Science Fiction World Builder, Gear toolkits. They cover stuff from near to far future. I used those to build my Savage Apocalypse toolkit. _________________ <> TeknoMerk <>

Twilight 2000 has a bunch of good source material too ... might be cheap (depending on who the seller is, could be expensive) ... Gurps has a few post-apocalyptic settings but most of them are out of print I imagine.
Really, make up a setting you like, base it on the culture that evolved/survived after "The Big XXXXXX" and run with scissors. My current came is set after a magical cataclysm that killed 90% of the people on the continent and since then people have been 'arriving' from all over what appears to be an Earth Analog. Arrivals are all from a time period from 900 AD to 1400 AD but from all over Earth. Magic hasn't developed enough to understand what happened. _________________ Dean: "Ya' know she could be faking."

Tons of great post-apoc stuff at http://www.savageheroes.com/
RIFTS!
The main book is chock-full of really fun ideas. 20 years after first discovering RIFTS I still think strapping on a suit of power armor to go slay a dragon is one of the most fun ideas ever.
I'm running a very short Savage RIFTS adventure right now where my Players got sucked from their regular universe into the world of RIFTS for a while. They have no idea, or they would probably revolt.
I came up with some quick and easy rules for mechs and power armor, and I'm using the population densities of Day After Ragnarok as my reference as to what makes sense. _________________ www.ATOMIC-ROBO.com |

I'm going to make the obligatory Deadlands post. I've heard Hell on Earth (actually, the whole line) referred to as a B movie. The opportunities to fight such villains as a pit fighter who controls Walmart, Walt Disney, and other such madness should get some points for over-the-top. _________________ 28/12/09 Scooter just bought a Deadlands book... Tank Girl is about as over the top post-apocalyptic (without getting horribly silly) as I can think of! _________________ When the stars themselves burn out three things will continue kicking a**: Faith, Hope and Love.

Those are post-apoc movies in the sense that Airplane was a serious documentary about in-flight aircraft emergencies.
A Boy & His Dog -this is a case of different strokes for different folks. I thought it was horrible. I watched it a few months ago and the only thing that got me through it was morbid curiosity.
I did like the evil little twist at the end though. It almost made the rest of the movie worth the time I invested in it.
Zardos- no one ever needs to see Sean Connery dressed like that. _________________ www.ATOMIC-ROBO.com |

the short story was much better of a Boy and his Dog.
Zardoz was horrible.
Hell comes to Frogtown, or Radioactive Dreams might be worth a gander |
