Well, with a little thought and a nice prompt from Dont Die, I present to you the beginnings of a "stunt" system.

I hate to award my players just for the luck they have with their rolls... So, if you have some lucky player, he can obtain more spotlight than the unlucky one, so the unlucky player become even more nervous, 'cause he can't do nothing good, and he loses chances to do better in the following actions.

Maybe you should re-think this mechanic. Maybe we just need some extra Bennies when a player have a good idea, or roleplay well, so he can use those Bennies as "Stunts": maybe you could simply convert a bennie in a "+2", so you can boost an action (but you have to do that BEFORE the roll) without the "risk" of a low reroll if you had used the bennie in the normal way.

I can't remember just now (maybe in the "Jaws of the Six Serpents" Game Manual) there is a strange/nice idea: more a character succeeds, more he has a chance to fail next time... more he fails, more he has a chance to succeed next time!
So you can't have a flawless hero doing all by himself, and if you are unlucky that night, then you can bet that you''ll have a nice spotlight soon or later.

I kinda thought the Dragon Age RPG was pretty good actually! The core mechanic of 3d6 is pretty good, and can elminate a lot of the extreme failures and successes you see in other games. Although some people like that.

I may try to port this over to the dark legacies campaign setting. But yes, the limit of 5 levels is kinda....well....limiting Razz

I was thinking about conversion myself and translating it into Polish for upcoming Polish release of SWEX.
One quick idea - use Purgatory Rules for main characters - this is heroic game after all. You might also add "injury" after each "death" as per game. Broken skull, concision and bleeding wounds might be fun.
I will definitely watch this space...
Keep brainstorming guys[/url]

I haven't had a chance to actually look at the DA game from Green Ronin but the previews look cool. I'm most interested in the fluff, since I figure I can tweak my preferred game system (SW at the moment) to fit the world. Guess I need to shell out for either the video game or Green Ronin's version to get started with that. Or wait for the inevitable novels. I wish there was just a "World of Dragon Age" source book available...

The video game's use of blood splatter and similar effects lends itself well to the injury table, I think. Not really that important in terms of making a conversion, but a kinda handy coincidence.

Already ahead of ya.

I've read the Stolen Throne, and it adds a great deal more flavor to the world. It focuses more on how King Maric lead the rebellion to drive the Orleasians out of Ferelden. And also tells more about Loghain and his past.

Also, I'm still somewhat new to Savage Worlds, but if people are working on this, I'm more then happy to throw my knowledge and expertise towards seeing this complete.

Same here! As for those books, I need to find a bookstore to do a little research...

Hey, I've been playing through this game again recently and I realized that there is a great reference both for conversions available for free.

Please note that this website contains LOTSof spoilers, and most if not all of it comes from the Codex of information that you gain as you play the cRPG.

Dragon Age the rpg looks very nice from a first glance over the rules. Its thought for beginners (and experienced players which love light and uncrunchy rules like myself) and for this task it looks well done.

Reviving an old post and supplying a minimalist conversion.

http://explodingdice.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/SDAMC_onepage2.pdf

This isn’t a ruleset describing the setting nor does it try to duplicated the existing excellent role-playing rules by Green Ronin nor does it try to describe game features of the video game. It is a set of rules to get you up and running a role-playing game in Thedas in about 5 min.

There's also this conversion entitled the Exalted Age which was posted on savageheroes a while back. Clocking in at 183 pages it's a fairly hefty effort. I GM the the DragonAGE rpg, but I haven't really given Exalted Age a thorough enough read to comment on how good the conversion is.

Ooooh...thanks for sharing that. I like what I've read of the official RPG, but the Savage in me always goes back to Savage Worlds.

There's a lot I like about DragonAGE and in some ways its primary emphasis on skills (called focuses) makes it's similar to SW. Always using 3d6 for skill and combat rolls though just isn't nearly as much fun as the escalating dice size in SW. DAGE certainlty does have some nice features; in particular a good magic system well tailored to the setting. It also took the Backgrounds freature from True20 and fit it very nicely to the setting. By far its best play mechanic is the Stunt system for which there's no real equivalent in SW, but it certainly doable.

The group I have playing it are also now playing in a Iron Dynasty game and really enjoying it, so I may eventually transition our Dragon Age game to SW.
