Yeah, we like the universe that much. |

Has anybody played the Space 1889 computer game? Back in the day, I bought it and played it. It was quite good for a graphical adventure game and reminded me of Ultima.
Speaking of Ultima, it also bore a resemblance to the Ultima game Martian Dreams, where you had to travel to Mars in the 1890s with some of that era's notable historic figures. Victoriana and Mars seem to go together in both games. _________________ "Good people are good because they've come to wisdom through failure."

Its got a decent following in a very small piece of the market. I played a miniatures game at GenCon a few years back and the guy running it was using the Soldier's Companion. The rules were ok but the game itself was a ton of fun with a lot of focus on characters. The SW rules and the Space 1889 setting seem a perfect match. _________________ I'm not an adversarial GM. You break my heart that you think I "barely" remember you, Bill. And just because I don't get to play much at conventions doesn't mean I don't *hear* about a lot of the games that go on there. Especially those you do with Peter Hildreth and th kids.
Dang. Do I seem that distant?

Wow, it's awesome that one of the Savage Fans (trademark pending) worked on this! Bill, if I can be nosey, how did you get involved in the project? |
The undead were not involved, I swear!
My understanding is Shane was still recovering from a Wierd War or TOD experience and noticed I had posted some ramblings posted about Space 1889 from ages ago on savageheroes.com. He did a "shout out" to try and track me down, a friend of mine noticed, recognized me and sent me Shane's email.
I had met Shane a few times at Gen Con and made enough of a pest of myself he vaguely remembered me. We emailed back and forth (I think he had a beer between each email) and after about 27 times his hand slipped and he asked if I would write something. I said I would and we spent the next couple of weeks bantering around ideas until I came up with something that he felt might fly. Frankly without his input there is no telling where the plot point might have ended up...but it would not have been pretty.
Hmmm, I hope I answered your question. If not, drink a beer and read the answer again. I'll bet after 27 it'll make perfect sense
Of course Shane probably has a much better version, but there were NO Undead involved! |

Sure your are, Shane. You're probably sipping Pina Coladas from the Deck of the S.S. Savage, wearing a Hugh Hefner-like velvet smoking jacket. Did I mention you were jingling your bag of 24 KT gold polyhedrons. |

Like many others i'm stoked to hear that 1889 will be Savaged. I love the setting and can't wait to see what you do with it. _________________ "Believe it or not," Doc advised her, "we get some fun out of this sort of thing."
