For those of you who never experienced playing in an actual roleplaying game tournament, you really have missed out. Usually 2 identical games are run, but sometimes many more. Each game has a list of certain specific decisions/opportunities the players may accomplish unknowingly that acquire them points. For example, finding a specific item that helps the group kill the final monster easier may yield 10 points. Whichever group acquires the most points is the winner. Tournament play in D&D 1st ed back in the late 70s and 80s was VERY popular.
Has anyone tried this for Deadlands? I am planning on doing so for a couple cons next year, including Gen Con.
Does Pinnacle ever give out prize support for such tournaments? _________________

They use to do prizes, but they use to have a Demo team too (I miss doing that) but I'm not sure any more.
I've played in RPG tournaments before, but never ran one. I have however ran a "vs" game for cons a couple years in a row. Two groups in two rooms playing the same game but from different factions (Deadlands was North vs South for one, and Combine vs Junkyard for two years). At some point they would end up facing each other. That was a blast but hard to run. This was before laptops when cheep enough to even consider, no wifi and I didn't have a cell phone then. I've talked to my brother-in-law a couple times now to see if he would be willing to do it again, but he's not so interested even with the new tech. _________________ Ju Ju
