Yep, we're doing it again!
The Dirty Dirty Grill & Sauce Gang will be transporting that grilled and tasty goodness for the Savage Saturday Night Bar 'n Grill all the way from snowy Buffalo to the wild wastes of ... (where's the Con this year?) ... AKRON! Oh yeah, Akron, Ohio, birthplace of Mark Mothersbaugh (among others).
We're looking for a little feedback this year to see if people are interested in more than just hot dogs ("Pheh! 'Just' hot dogs he sez..."), so let us know if we should bring some hamburgers to round out the menu.
As last year, in order for us to pull this off, we're asking for just a little help. Help us make this year's Savage Saturday Night Bar & Grill a rousing success by donating to the cause. Just click this link to make a donation via Paypal. All payments will be made into my PayPal account, and all funds will be used towards amenities for the party, including food, condiments, utensils, charcoal, and ... of course ... Ted's Hot Sauce! Any extra funds will be donated to Sean Patrick Fannon towards other party expenses.
Feel free to donate any amount, even if it's just a buck or two: hot dogs is cheap around here, and we wound up with a surplus last year, so we're not planning on bringing quite so much. If you want to us to smuggle any jars of Ted's across the state border, please contact me separately at loremaster@roadrunner.com so we can negotiate amounts, quantity, etc. FYI, Ted's Hot Sauce retails at around $6.75 per 16 oz. jar and a little goes a long way. Just be ready to refrigerate it for the ride home...
And if you don't want to send cash, you can either donate other items too to help ease the burden, or bring some of your local favorites for grilling! Bring extra to share! Let's make it a feast! Post below for what you're going to be bringing, so we can make sure we have enough of everything.
On behalf of everyone involved, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who participated in the past cookouts and helped us make it such a success. Here's to a bigger and better THIRD year! (Does that make it a tradition now?) _________________ "Your GM is metagaming ... and wrong!" |

You can grill turkey? But why??
I voted for hot dogs, but also love hamburgers and corn on the cob.
Turkey? You're kidding right? Maybe pizza. If we could figure out how to grill it. _________________

You can grill almost anything. I even grilled Mac and Cheese this summer.
Pizza can be done. You do need some special equipment.
Anyway. I am planning to kick in some money for Kali and I... expect some money next Friday!

I once read an article in our paper's weekly Food section which concerned grilling pizza. No special equipment is required. However, you do have to be fast in applying the tomato sauce and various toppings, as it's suppose to be done during the actual grilling process. _________________ The rabbit is cuddly. I've seen Bobby Flay grill pizza (and honestly, what hasn't he grilled?) on the Foodie Network and I think he put down some aluminum foil on the grill to keep the dough from slipping through. _________________ Mark Swafford

Dammit. Every year when I can't go to CotC, I get Ted's Hot Sauce rubbed in my wounds. It stings.
Who knows? Maybe I'll load up a minivan full of my newly-birthed spawn and drive them to Akron.
Probably not, but thinking about it's a fun way to kill a few minutes at work. _________________ Matthew Cutter

Well, if you fill up the van with plenty of compost, and spritz them down occasionally, they should last the trip.

Let me pipe in that I will certainly appreciate any and all support of the Savage Saturday Night Bar & Grill.
As well, I may need to recruit a bartender this year. Sarah "That's Hot" Witucki won't be able to join us, so anyone with a decent number of drinks they can concoct will be vastly appreciate and plied with something freebie and full of gratitude from me. _________________ Sean Patrick Fannon

I voted for hot dogs. But this year I will walk down to the grill with my buns and put the wieners on them while they are super hot!
And no more Ted's for me... I paid for it all night last year.
My money will be sent by Paypal on Friday! _________________ Norm "No Relation" Hensley |

*sniff* Breaks my heart that I can't swing it this year. I hope you guys will raise a Ted's coated Sahlen's wiener aloft in memory of me! _________________ Chris in Atlanta

They'll have to do a tomb of the unknown wiener.
Or..or..or...fly the 'missing wiener' formation...
with.. a.. twenty-one mustard bottle salute!

My heart...she is breaking.
Sorry to miss you guys.
At least I got to see Cutter at GenCon...and we all know that once a year is enough. _________________ Mark Swafford
